Google’s new “Goto” update

Google has quietly added a new system in its search results called “google.com/goto.”

What does this mean?

Earlier, when you clicked on a search result, you went straight to the website. Now, before reaching the site, your click first passes through Google’s own “goto” link.

Why did Google do this?

– To stop bots and scraping tools from copying search results.

– To track clicks more safely and protect users.

– To make sure their search data is not misused.

Does this affect normal users?

No. For everyday people searching on Google, nothing changes. You will still reach the same websites.

Who needs to care?

SEO experts and analytics tools. They may need to adjust their systems because scraping Google results has become harder.

In Short

Google’s “goto” update is about security and protection, not about changing rankings. Normal users won’t notice it, but SEO professionals should keep an eye on how it affects tracking and reporting.
